Continuous Improvement – The way forward for Public Services

It is no secret that the Public Sector faces challenges in both cost reduction and service enhancement. This was highlighted at the recent continuous improvement conference held in Manchester which was attended by those responsible for change.

At the conference, attended on selection by the Government by Dembridge as a key sponsor, there were several key messages presented:

  • Drive down costs through efficiency
  • Drive up service through improved effectiveness
  • Focus on integration – the real need for removing silos and ensuring process flow throughout the functions

The over-riding message, put simply by Greg Hobbs (Cabinet Office) was “Collaborate use of external expert advice on continuous improvement as a way of demonstrating the philosophy from the outset – sharing the knowledge gained could deliver better value for the taxpayer from consultants.”  The full article can be read here
